Salinas – A 68-year-old pastor was fatally stabbed at his home Tuesday night when he went outside to pray with a parishioner, police said.
“That’s one of the things we’re not sure if truly we’re ever going to be able to answer,” he said. “At the time of the stabbing, it was only the two of them that were out in front of the pastor’s house.”
Valero, a pastor for the Victory Outreach Church in Salinas, was meeting with one of his parishioners, 37-year-old Servando Ayala Silva. Valero told his family he was going to be outside, praying with Silva. A few minutes later, Valero ran back into the house holding his neck saying Silva had stabbed him. Valero’s family called 911 as Silva fled in a white, full-size truck.
