It’s been a long hard road to recovery for Country legend Randy Travis, who suffered a devastating stroke last July.
So we’re beyond thrilled to finally be able to show you the first video footage of the Country singer since the tragic ordeal, when he recently attended a fundraising event in Denison, Texas for the Four Rivers Outreach.
Accompanied by his fiancee, Mary Davis, Randy looked great and brought so much joy to the crowd of people, who applauded him upon his entrance that evening. Just seeing that trademark smile come across Travis’ face brings a tear to our eyes.
Mary Davis said they’re taking Randy’s recovery one day at a time, and while Travis still isn’t speaking much, little by little he’s improving.
“Every day we go to speech therapy and physical therapy and occupational therapy,” she told ABC’s KTEN in Texoma, who covered the fundraiser. “We’re learning words and phrases, learning to sing, of course, the music and the songs come easy for him, just the enunciation of words. But he’s working on it! He’s got the heart of a warrior and he doesn’t stop. He knows that the road ahead of us is is long and tedious, but he’s up for the challenge and he’s never never shied away from it. Never asked why me.”
